"Comanche" by Phillip Payne
Comanche’s story is one of a struggle against overwhelming odds and the heroism with which we all must face them. He was name “Comanche” by Myles Keogh in 1868 when, though wounded in the hind quarters with an arrow, he continued to carry Keogh through the battle. He was named to honor his bravery and he lived up to his name after being wounded in many different battles up to and including his final battle at Little Big Horn. This piece was meant to capture the spirit of a survivor of battles, a conqueror of personal injuries, and of one who played his role in life with everything he could muster.
